"My Girl" Day Twenty Ink Sketch Drawing

Years ago two very special dogs came into our lifes, Suzie aka Yellow Fawn and Dexter aka Moose.  They were anonymously given to my parents who eventually gave them to us and they became dear and precious members of our little family.  As far as we could discern they were in the Rhodesian Ridgeback family.

Thumbing through my albums today, I came across a photo of Suzie and it just called out to me as the subject of my Day Twenty Sketch.  Now, mind you, drawing animals is not something that comes easily to me.  I finally decided to challenge myself further in Brenda Swenson's 75 Day Sketch Challenge and at least attempt this drawing.  So here is

Happy New Year!

  2. We have so many special memories of her and her brother. Jim's parents used to have a cabin up on Mt. Hood that we would often visit, Suzie had free run of the area and even became friends with the Governor of Oregon up there! We never met the Governor, didn't even know he had friends who had a cabin up there; but we heard through the grape vine the the Governor and Suzie were good friends! LOL! I think a lot of people on Road 35A met and befriended Suzie ... she was never hungry up there! Now, Dexter, he was a laze around the campfire type of guy ... he couldn't be bothered with running all around the forest and cabin areas! Suzie was about 70 pounds and Dexter was around 85. At the cabin she was called "Yellow Fawn" and he was called "Moose". Sigh..... but now we have Danny Boy, Suzie would have loved DB, Moose would have tolerated the little runt. LOL! Happy New Year Stacy!

  3. She's a beauty, and I also noticed that certain expression in her eyes. You did a marvelous portrait. She had friends in high places, good for her!

    Happy New Year, Karen Anne!
