Day Seven and I am still hanging in ....

Today I began the day by putting a 15 pound turkey into the oven, in preparation for a big Family Christmas Party tomorrow with all my brothers, sisters, nieces, nephews, our children and grandchildren and of course my Mom!  Mom and Dad had a total of six children who eventually married, had children who eventually got married, who had more children!  From Mom and Dad we have grown into a family that now numbers 66+ (never know when a new little blessing is on the way)!

Anyway, with the smell of roasting turkey wafting through the house I decided I might as well get started on my Day Seven ink sketch.  The subject today is from a card I received from my sister, about ten or so years ago, of a photograph of a little angel holding a basket of fruit (picture must be around circa 1920 or so) that I had framed because it was so charming.  The photograph was in sepia tones so for this rendering I decided to use deep brown ink and it seems those little circles are determined to be in yet another illustration!

  1. Congratulations on the big family gathering- sounds like a lot of fun. Your angel sketch is very pretty her expression and hair are lovely.

  2. They are a lot of fun, especially if I'm not the one hosting the party! LOL! My brother is doing the honors this year .... we do make it easy for the host by making it a pot luck, that way one person doesn't get too stressed out with having to prepare all the food for that many people. AND we are lucky to have sooooooo many good cooks in the family - I always have to sample everything!

  3. Your angel drawing is adorable Karen Anne! And the dinner gathering sounds fun, yummy , yummy!!!

  4. Thanks Debbie! I'll probably more stuffed than a turkey by tomorrow night! LOL!

I'm thinking Day Eight will definitely have to be a simple sketch .... have a busy day scheduled!

  5. Wow, what a big beautiful family! So much fun! Mom got ready the turkey for us tomorrow as well. We are actually having two turkey dinners ;o) I don't mind! Tomorrow with special friends and then with family during the week ;o) Your angel is very pretty my friend ;o) Big Hugs ;o)

  6. Sounds like grand fun Stacy! I roasted my turkey breast side down today and oh my did the breast meat ever turn out nice and moist! (Jim and I feasted just a bit on tomorrow's dinner ... I mean, you can't roast a turkey and not have some the same day can you?!

  7. Merry Christmas Karen Anne! It's great to have such a large family around you at the holidays!

  8. Merry Christmas to you too Debbie! It is wonderful to have a large family around during the holidays!
