Day Nine .....

For the subject today, I chose a small carved yellow cedar bowl that we picked up on one of our visits to Haida Gwaii (aka Queen Charlotte Islands) in BC many years ago.  I've always been a huge fan of Northwest Coast art.  This bowl has been carved in the design of a Haida Bear, I cherish this bowl and the memories it stirs.

Well, now its time to start gift wrapping, Christmas Eve is drawing ever closer with each passing day.

Merry Christmas All!

  2. Hey Deb (GeckoStone), Merry Christmas!

You know, I would love to but, the truth is, I do not have understanding behind the meanings and stories of these beautiful pieces ... each has a story to tell. I can merely appreciate and enjoy the beauty that is given to us by special Northwest Coast artists. It is truly a quite unique and beautiful art form. Years of study and training go into the development of these designs and highly skilled artisans. Many of whom I am lucky enough to call friends.
