I don't know about you, but when I am working on a project my "art" area tends to turn from organized at the onset to utter chaos after several days. Today I sat down to work on the scene and realized I had over 50 percent of my pencils spread all over the table leaving very little room for me and the drawing. As you may have surmised by now, I spent nearly two hours cleaning and organizing ... ahhhhhhh ... I now have a fresh start midway through my project.
Because of this little foray into organization I ended up with less time to devote to the scene than I had originally anticipated. I did manage to color in the pail, the shovel, the cockle shell and the feather that is lying on the sand, PLUS a bit of sand shading! We are slowly but surely working our way the to true subject of this little project.....

This bit of mid-way cleaning has refreshed my spirit as well ... that is a good thing!
I don't know about your area of the country, but here in Portland it is raining buckets! We've also been receiving more than our fair share of high winds ... here's hoping the ground doesn't get so water saturated that one of the large trees comes tumbling down ... especially not on the house!

ReplyDeleteAs for feeling disorganized with not enough space for your work, I think all artists have this issue. I think a lot of us have cluttered minds too with more ideas than we know what to do with.
Whoa! You said a mouthful Lise! You hit a bull's eye with the "cluttered minds" comment! I've been trying for YEARS to figure out where the "Idea Button" is so that I can shut it down for sleeping! LOL! If I don't have an audio book on really low playing during my sleep time, my eyes pop open and ideas come flooding in! A low volume audio book distracts my mind and I get a good nights sleep. I am sooooooooo bad with need of sleep distraction that if a book ends to early and there is complete silence I am totally awake within a few minutes and have to restart a recording ... within 1 min I am sound asleep again. Wonder if there has ever been a study on people who need to have a very low noise level in order to sleep?
ReplyDeleteYou know, there have been numerous times when I have been hospitalized, the nurse comes in and shuts off the TV (low noise voice level) and I immediately wake up, even when heavily drugged! They just do not understand a person who requires low noise level voices in order to sleep.
Gosh I'd love to hear there are more "low voice level" people out there ...
Such beautiful rich colors! I know about the disorganization, my art area is in constant disarray. My cat's love to take off with my pencils, so I am always having to hunt them down. :)

Gorgeous Karen Anne! Your details and shading is amazing! I have been gardening all day. We had major storms at the end of the week and you know what, when I was working today, the ground was hard! Just goes to show, how dry actually the earth is, around us! I hope no trees come down around you!!! Hugs ;o)

ReplyDeleteWell, I went out and checked the gardens and the dirt around here is moist and easy to turn. Good news is that we are due to get some sunny days! I'm hoping to get a chance to plant some seeds tomorrow or Monday; then fashion a temporary green house out of clear visqueen over the seed beds so that they will be protected from birds, critters, and more rain storms until they have had a chance to establish themselves. Hopefully, it'll all come together! 8~D
