"Birds of Paradise" plus one little blue haired Garden Fairy ...

One of our favorite flowers is the "Bird of Paradise" and I thought it would be fun to create a Bird of Paradise ACEO complete with a little blue haired garden fairy peeking out from amidst a garden of blooms.

Also, I received a new of set colored pencils yesterday that I was quite eager to try out, SoHo Urban Artist Professional colored pencils.  WOW!  I LOVE these pencils!  Its like they were made for me and to my own personal specifications!  I can hardly wait until I begin my next piece just so I can work with these little gems again!

Hope you like ......

"Birds of Paradise"

The original is now on eBay...

and Open Edition ACEO Authorized Art Prints are at Etsy ...

Looking forward to a great Friday!

  1. Karen Anne, this is beautiful but of course it would be. I haven't heard of this brand of pencils, are they sold in our area?

    1. Thanks Maddy Rose! The SoHo cps are relatively new and basically sold through "Jerry's Artarma" http://www.jerrysartarama.com/discount-art-supplies/colored-pencils/soho-urban-artist/colored-pencil-sets.htm

I like them because they have a harder core than most cps (like Prismacolor Premier and Lyra-Rembrandt Poloycolor) and a beautiful selection of colors (not great for flesh tho) ... They are very much like the hardness of the Prismacolor Verithins and work quite well with the verithins ... for me they are much easier to blend and I achieve the results I want faster and easier ...

    1. Thanks you so much Lise! Adding patterns really alters a picture ... gives it more depth? At least, more to look at! LOL!
