I have been missing from the blog scene for over a month now and thought I'd let you know what I have been doing ... I have been making "Beaded Ornament" Covers for Christmas gifts this year!
Here is a photo of a group of 20 of them, I ended up making a total of 36 this year (for family only, none for sale) ... missed my goal by 6!

Here are some on our Christmas tree ...
The following are some individual photos I took ....
I think I will make about 2 a month in 2014 so that I don't end up doing everything at the end of the year. I still owe Jim 6 more ornaments from 2013 ... good thing he is an understanding hubby!
Wishing all my friends a wonderful New Year!
Karen Anne aka Ireland Brady
PS If you could say some prayers for my Jim, that would be wonderful. He is undergoing chemo treatments for colon/rectal cancer, stage two. We are hoping the first 6 treatments will shrink the cancer enough so they can surgically remove it. If so, then once he has healed he will undergo another series of 6 - 8 chemo treatments; they are trying to avoid radiation if at all possible.
Big hugs everyone!
Karen Anne ;o) So great to see you ;o) Those ornaments are amazing! Breath taking! I can't even begin the time and love your put into each one! Wow!! Truly ornaments that will be cherished forever!! I agree, start earlier!
ReplyDeleteMy friend, Jim will continue to be in my prayers and thoughts! Mom is sending prayers too!
Big Warm Hugs to the both of you! May 2014 be a year filled with blessings for you both!!
Love you ;o) Happy you got the card ;o)
Big hugs and warm wishes to you, dear friend.
ReplyDeleteYour ornaments are breathtakingly beautiful. Oh my what gorgeous Christmas ornies.
ReplyDeleteOf course I would be honored to pray for your darling man. I hope all goes well and that you both come through this with renewed verve for life. Happy New Year my friend. Oma Linda
Thanks a bunch Oma Linda ... the more prayers the better, strength in numbers! Happy New Year to you and your Sweet Man too!
DeleteHappy New Year1! The ornament covers are gorgeous and having made some myself, I can truly appreciate all the time and work (and love) that went into each one. I am sure they will be cherished.
ReplyDeleteI will be thinking of Jim and will remember him in my prayers for a positive result.
Thanks Debbie, if anyone knows the patience of beading it would surely be you! I did them for about 4 or 5 years for my kids and grandkids and then I quit cuz I wasn't really sure they wanted them. After a year or so I asked if any of them would be interested in another Ornament year and I received a resounding YES! Guess they all did like them! (Some let me know, others don't ...). Funny thing was, I never made any for Jim and me ... so last year I made a dozen for Christmas for Jim (that was all he wanted for Christmas that year) and that's when several of the kids noticed I had made more. I promised Jim at least 10 more this year ... I still owe him 5 more (whoops!) ... and I need some more beads!
DeleteThanks for your prayers for Jim, as I said to Oma Linda .. there is strength in numbers!
Happy New Year Debbie!
Amazing ornaments - just breathtaking!
ReplyDeleteAnd many prayers going out to you and Jim.
Happy New Year!
Thanks Debbie ... They are most appreciated. He is going in for a batch of tests this week so see where his treatment goes next. He is only about 45% through his ordeal at this point.
DeleteTake care and Happy New Year!
Well, we have even more in common (!):
ReplyDeletestopped blogging because of surgeries for loved ones
DHs named Jim
a round table just like the one you posted!
I will definitely pray for your Jim. So sorry you are going through this.
I hope you don't mind advice... eat as little sugar as possible (feeds cancers) and replace with blueberries on a daily basis instead if you can (fights cancers)
I appreciate your advice, will share it with Jim. I'm trying to cut out as much sugar as possible and eating loads of fresh fruits and veggies.
DeleteToday my Mom (93) called, she is facing heart surgery and wants me to handle all of her doctor/hospital appointments, etc. I'll help as much as I can but Jim is so week and has lost so much weight that I am actually hesitant to leave him alone. Dog gone, when it rains it pours!
Ah well, it will all work out ... Oh, on top of all that, I moved my artwork upstairs and now the dog is upset that I am spending so much time up their without him. (He's afraid to go up/down those steps, very steep.)
When he (dog) is with me, he lays in his doggie stroller (dog cave) and is quite content as long as he is near me. I think I will have to invest in another stroller for the upstairs ... too hard to drag the current one up and down the stairs! Carrying him up and down is almost too hard!
I think I quit smoking at the wrong time .... I have really been craving a cigarette lately! Each time I crave one I go look at the calendar ... today is day 252 without a cigarette ... then wait for the craving to pass. It would be easier to deal with stuff if I still smoked ... but it wouldn't be healthy and I am enjoying not having to got outside at most places to have a fix. Ahhhhhh, there we go ... the craving is almost gone!
Thanks for letting me have a little "Pity Party"! I just keep reminding myself that God won't give me any challenges that are more than I can handle ... hmmmm,
Hope you are having a great new year Lise! Big hugs to you friend!
