Day Twelve and what to sketch? As I looked around the dining room, I spied Sister Celine's old school bell and decided upon today's sketch. She was Jim's aunt and she used to teach school. Though she has long since passed, she is brought back to memory every time I see her bell sitting atop my old oak sideboard.
How many of you remember the days when it seemed every teacher had a bell and yielded it with frequency, especially when she wanted your attention?!

"Sister Celine's School Bell"
I'm really looking forward to when the days are not so filled and I will have more time to work on these sketches. This challenge is great fun and I look forward to each day's new drawing, but I wish I had a bit more time so I could pay closer attention to details.
Til tomorrow,
Karen Anne
Karen Anne, I think this sketch is very special, because it holds a lot of memories! Love it!!!
ReplyDeleteIt certainly does hold very special memories Stacy.
ReplyDeleteI'm glad you like it.
Merry Christmas!
Happy Birthday Karen Anne! Can't say I remember a teacher ever having a bell...but my Mom had one just like this when I was a kid & she used to ring it when it was time for me to come home for dinner!
ReplyDeleteThanks Debbie! That's funny you should say that because when the kids were younger, I used the bell in this drawing to call my kids home! LOL!
ReplyDeleteI didn't have that bell ringing experience at school, but like the sketch of a family heirloom.
ReplyDeleteKaren Anne!!! I am such a ding dong! I didn't wish you a Happy Birthday!! Sorry!!! Happy Belated Birthday!!! Hugs ;o)
